Read, check and decide
For IT teams, independent security advisers and managed service providers who need a clear record of which advisories match their visible software.
01
Read
Read the brief yourself, or let your agent retrieve the latest approved issue with its original dates and sources.
02
Check
You choose the software inventory your agent may read. The MCP compares submitted product names and versions with approved advisories.
03
Report
Your agent prepares a sourced action report and checks its evidence record. Unknown does not mean safe.
The MCP supplies approved advisories, matching and report validation. Your agent collects the authorized inventory and writes the report. Recurring runs need a separately configured scheduler. Check the issue date and coverage: test drafts are excluded, and worldwide incident and campaign collection is still being expanded.
What your report looks like
A short note for the person who owns the decision, with the supporting evidence record for your team.
Fictional example. The software, observations and action shown here illustrate the format; this is not an assessment of a real system.
- Finding
- Example VPN: one observed version needs an update. A second appliance has no recorded version.
- Next step
- Review the vendor update instructions and confirm the second appliance's version. Owner not yet assigned. Due date not yet agreed.
- Still unknown
- The second appliance's status. A missing version does not mean it is safe.
- Evidence
- A real report includes original advisory links, the issue date, the source-check time and the limits of the inventory examined.
Keep the evidence with the decision.
A useful report shows its sources, the software examined and what remains unknown. A missing product match does not establish that an organization is safe. The interview and research below provide context for the brief.
